What is Double the Donation?
Double the Donation helps nonprofits and schools collect matching gifts. Many employers match their employees’ donations, but most donors never submit the request. Double the Donation checks which donors work for companies with matching gift, volunteer grant or payroll giving programs, and then sends those donors the steps to request the match.
It works inside the tools you already use. Double the Donation says it integrates with every major donation form, peer-to-peer tool and CRM, plus more than 100 others, and its database covers more than 26,000 company programs. A volunteering module covers volunteer grants and paid volunteer time off, and every user gets the payroll giving module free.
The nonprofit pays for the subscription; companies do not. Pricing is published, which makes it easier to compare the cost against the matching gifts you could realistically recover.
Choosing a plan
Small organizations can start on Essentials, which is free to sign up for and then charged by how much match-eligible giving it identifies. Essentials connects to one donation form but not to a CRM, so if you want matches tracked in your donor database, compare it with Standard, which includes CRM integrations.
Best For
Best for nonprofits and schools with a meaningful number of donors employed at mid-sized or large companies, where unclaimed matching gifts add up. Small organizations can start on the usage-based Essentials plan; teams that need CRM integration should look at Standard.
How It Fits
- Learning curve
- Donors see a simple employer search. Staff time goes into following up on matches and reconciling them in the CRM.
- Setup timeShort to moderate
- Adding the search tool to a donation form is quick; CRM integration and donor follow-up emails take more setup. Standard and Enterprise include an implementation specialist.
- Organization sizeSmall to large
- Essentials suits smaller organizations; Standard is described as the right fit for most nonprofits; Enterprise is for large organizations.
- Technical skillLow to moderate
- Someone needs to connect the donation form or CRM and check that match data flows into donor records.
Before You Sign Up
Cost and access
Built for nonprofits and schools, which pay the subscription. Essentials is free to start and charged by match-eligible giving identified: $300 up to $2,000 (free for the first year), $500 up to $5,000 and $1,200 up to $15,000. The payroll giving module is free for all users.
Eligibility and availability
Essentials is for smaller organizations, but the pricing page states the cap two ways: under $250,000 in contributions, and under $500,000 in total revenue, on the most recent Form 990. Confirm which applies before signing up. Plans rely on Form 990 figures and U.S. employer programs.
