About the firm

Rogers & Company was started in 2003 by Darrin S. Rogers, CPA, CMA, who spent more than 36 years in public accounting, including Price Waterhouse, Deloitte and Grant Thornton, and is licensed in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia and New York. The leadership page lists 15 people, including a certified fraud examiner who oversees Uniform Guidance audits and a director of outsourced controllership and CFO services.

Who it works with

The firm serves only nonprofits and benefit plans: charities, associations, foundations, advocacy, arts, research, health and education organizations, including international NGOs with operations on several continents. It is based in Tysons, Virginia, with satellite offices in Los Angeles and New York, works on site or virtually, and is a member of CLA Global.

Services and how engagements work

Audit work includes financial statement audits, federal award (Uniform Guidance) audits, benefit plan audits and agreed-upon procedures under U.S. and international standards. Tax work covers Forms 990, 990-T and 990-PF, lobbying, state nexus and IRS audit representation, and advisory covers budgeting, reserves, internal controls, governance and SOC readiness. To start, send an RFP with your latest audited financial statements or fill in its proposal form.

Before you hire an auditor

  • License in your state. Audits are performed by licensed CPA firms. Confirm the firm can practice in your state, especially if it works with you remotely.
  • Peer review. Ask for the firm’s most recent peer review report.
  • Single Audit. If your organization expends $1,000,000 or more in federal awards in a fiscal year, it needs a Single Audit under 2 CFR 200.501. Ask whether the firm performs them.
  • Scope and fee. Ask what the engagement letter covers (audit, Form 990, management letter) and how the fee is set.

Details come from the Rogers & Company website, checked October 3, 2026.

Federal single audit record

The Federal Audit Clearinghouse, the federal government’s public database of single audits, lists Rogers & Company as the auditor on 164 single audits of nonprofit organizations for fiscal years 2021 through 2025. The audited organizations were in the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and 3 other states.

Fiscal year Nonprofit single audits
2021 22
2022 25
2023 35
2024 42
2025 40

Those organizations reported between $615K and $52.9 million in federal award spending for the year audited (median $2.4 million). The single audit threshold was $750,000 in federal awards spent for fiscal years starting before October 1, 2024, and is $1,000,000 for fiscal years starting on or after that date (how the threshold works).

The largest organizations in the 2025 records include Albert B. Sabin Vaccine Institute, Inc., Abilities, Inc. of Florida, National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, Public Health Accreditation Board, American Forests and Friendship Place. These are public filings, not client endorsements.

Counted from FAC records on October 7, 2026, one report per organization per year. Recent years are incomplete: a single audit is due nine months after the fiscal year ends.
